Here is a round up from the latest round of 1st XI fixtures in the Shepherd Neame Essex Cricket League on Saturday:-

Premier Division
Brentwood 26/0 wkt
Chingford 150/8 wkts
Match Abandoned
Visitors Chingford batted first and struggled to 150/8 off 41 overs before their innings was ended early after rain had halted proceedings for over two hours earlier in their innings, with Max Osbourne taking 3-25 for the hosts.  Brentwood were set 154 to win from 41 overs but they only received five of these and were 26 without loss when the rain returned and abandoned the contest.

Chelmsford 64/3 wkts
Hornchurch 74 all out
Match Abandoned
Hosts Chelmsford saw opening bowler Anthony Hill take 5-16 as they rolled league leaders Hornchurch over for just 74 inside 30 overs and in reply were crusing to their victory target of 75, reaching 64/3 after just nine overs, until they were cruelly denied victory by the weather and saw the match abandoned.

Ilford
Colchester and East Essex 52/0 wkt
Match Abandoned
Only 16.3 overs were possible at Valentines Park, Ilford as visitors Colchester & East Essex reached 52/0 when the rain came and ended up abandoning the contest.

South Woodford 150 all out
Shenfield 113/8 wkts
South Woodford won by 25 runs (D/L Method)
Hosts South Woodford batted first and saw their innings interrupted after 27 overs meaning the game was reduced to 43 overs a side.  Tom Austin took 4-40 for the visitors as they bowled out their opponents for 150, with James Kilber also chipping in with 3-29.  More rain meant Shenfield's target was 138 from 29 overs and they fell 25 runs short of this largely thanks to the hosts opening bowlers Harry Shirt (5-37) and Garry Neicho (3-30) who between them reduced the visitors to 67/8 and make sure their side eventually ran out winners.

Wanstead & Snaresbrook 78/1 wkt
Buckhurst Hill 70/7 wkts
Wanstead & Snaresbrook won by 9 wickets (D/L Method)
Visitors Buckhurst Hill struggled in bowler friendly conditions and after their innings was interrupted for a second time due to rain they ended on 70/7 off 31.3 overs with Adnan Akram taking 4-24.  Wanstead were set a target of 73 from 31 overs and they cruised to this target off just 8.5 overs to win by nine wickets.

Match Abandoned
Loughton batted first after the match was reduced to 25 overs a side after a late start due to a wet patch on the square and made 157/7 thanks to Nishad Gabhawala's 55 not out off 54 balls.  David Hinnigan then hit 52 not out off 50 balls as the hosts reply was going along nicely at 95/2 off 15 overs, but sadly the rain came and ended the contest meaning it was abandoned.

The match at John Burrows Park was abandoned without a ball bowled due to an unplayable outfield.  Both sides therefore pick up six points each.

Mohammed Waqas struck 101 off 104 balls for hosts Harlow as they posted 235 in 46.4 overs against Fives and Herionians, whose bowler Sarfaraz Ahmed took 4-52 in his ten overs.  The visitors were 29/1 off 9.3 overs in reply when the match was abandoned due to the outfield becoming waterlogged following heavy rain.

Orsett & Thurrock
Harold Wood 133/4 wkts
Match Abandoned
The visitors recovered from 10/2 to reach 133/4 off 32 overs thanks largely to Mdaminul Isalm Shihan's 53 off just 52 balls, but the rain came and saw this one abandoned.

Upminster 243 all out
Upminster won by 10 runs (D/L Method)
In an innings interrupted by showers, Upminster eventually posted 243 with opening batsmen Shahbaz Butt scoring 56.  In reply Woodford reached 118/2 off 20.1 overs with Michael Arblaster erm blasting (sorry!!!) 60 not out from just 48 deliveries, but rain and thunder/lightning came and ended the contest early with the hosts an agonising ten runs adrift of the D/L par score at that stage, meaning the visitors ran out 10 run winners on Duckworth Lewis.

Hutton 261/8 wkts
Wickford 112/4 wkts
Hutton won by 8 runs (D/L Method)
Hutton opening batsmen Daniel Hagger hit 116 as his side posted a decent 261/8 in their 50 overs with visiting bowler Dean Etchells eventually getting him out on his way to taking 3-31. Rain saw Duckworth Lewis reduce Wickford's target to 120 from 23 overs but David Carpenter's 3-31 helped see the hosts reduce their opponents to 112/4 and see them fall eight runs short.

Leigh On Sea 78 all out
Old Southendian & Southchurch 79/1 wkts
Old Southendian & Southchurch won by 9 wickets
A great all round bowling display from Old Southendian's saw them dismiss Leigh On Sea for just 78 in 35.4 overs with the pick of the visiting attack being David Johnson who took 3-17 off his ten overs.  Johnson then starred with the bat, smashing 68 not out from just 34 deliveries as his side cruised to their target in just 10.4 overs for a thumping nine wicket win.

Oakfield Parkonians 73/1 wkt
Gidea Park & Romford 220/9 wkts

Benfleet 138/6 wkts
West Essex 140 all out
Benfleet won by 4 wickets (D/L Method)
Charlie Huntley took 3-24 as his side bowled out visitors West Essex for 140 in 46.4 overs and then a rain delay meant Benfleet required 138 from 49 overs.  Despite Zohair Jan taking 4-22 in ten overs the hosts got to their target with five overs left thanks largely to skipper Gavin Blowes, who hit 73 not out to see his side to victory.

Old Brentwoods
Westcliff-On-Sea 129/7 wkts
Match Abandoned
Visitors Westcliff struggled to 129/7 off 36.5 overs in an innings that had already been twice interrupted by rain, before a deluge finally ended the contest and saw the match abandoned. Opening bowler Raheel Ahmed had taken 3-25 for the hosts but sadly like a lot of other contests today, the weather was the winner.

Walthamstow
Epping 77/6 wkts
Match Abandoned

Woodford Green 152 all out
Stanford Le Hope 89 all out
Woodford Green won by 63 runs

South Woodford 123 all out
Colchester and East Essex won by 5 wickets
With the match reduced to 45 overs a side due a delayed start the visitors batted first and were bowled out for just 123 with Ben Stephens taking 3-17.  In response the hosts lost five wickets in pursuit of the 124 target but skipper Tom Ullyott's 76 not out helped them cruise to their target with 12.3 overs to spare.

Hutton opening batsmen Mitchell Fenn struck 67 as his side posted 229/9 in their 50 overs with Harlow Town bowler Shaun Alderson taking 3-43.  Fifties from Patrick Yates (70) and Ashley Alderson (53) had the hosts in a good position at 106/1 but then collapsed to 120/5 and although they managed to put on 73 for the sixth wicket, they lost four wickets for thirty runs attempting to reach the 230 target and fell agonisingly short to lose by two runs, with Jon Hammond taking 4-53.

Horndon On The Hill 168 all out
Old Southendian & Southchurch 144 all out
Horndon On The Hill won by 24 runs
Hosts Horndon will have to solely thank middle order batsman and skipper Jeff West for posting any sort of target, after he hit 105 in his sides 168 all out in 39 overs.  However this looked likely to still not be enough runs to win but the hosts bowlers had other ideas and exploited the visitors batting line up, and helped by Jack Marson's 3-22 they bowled out Old Southendians for just 144 in 48.1 overs and take a 24 run victory.

Wickford 87 all out
Belhus 89/2 wkts
Belhus won by 8 wickets
Belhus bowler Daniel Dreher took a magnificent 5-28 off his ten overs as his side bowled out Wickford for a miserable 87 in 35.3 overs.  It was no surprise therefore that the visitors cruised to their target with almost thirty overs to spare thanks to Joe Joyce's 51 not out to win by eight wickets.

However both fell and the innings fell apart thereafter and saw Ben Munday take a hat trick in posting figures of 5-45 to help his side to a 63 run win.

Epping 106 all out
Stanford Le Hope 229 all out
Stanford Le Hope won by 123 runs
Fifties from visiting openers Martin Leslie (72) and Michael Gray (55) gave them a platform to build a large total, however they lost their way somewhat and had to rely on Jack Carter's 52 in the middle order to get them up to 229, with Javed Iqbal taking 3-34.  However the hosts didn't get anywhere near the 230 target as Jack Carter completed a wonderful all round display taking 5-22 in ten overs in helping his side rout Epping for just 106 and take a 123 run victory.

Old Brentwoods 226/9 wkts
Woodford Green 225/8 wkts

Ardleigh Green won by 2 runs
Visitors Ardleigh Green saw their batting line up fail as they were bowled out for just 111 in 34.5 overs with Yasir Ghayas taking 3-9.  Incredibly though this proved a winning total as Simon Jeffries (3-8), James Duhig (3-17) and Muhammad Asif (3-36) saw the hosts bowled out for 109 in 27.3 overs, with Zia Anwar hitting 50 of them, as the vistors ran out winners by two runs.

Westcliff-On-Sea 227 all out
Benfleet 131 all out
Westcliff-On-Sea won by 96 runs
Westcliff opener Charlie Lockhart hit 102 and was ably supported by Matt Renvoize who hit 59 off 61 deliveries, as the hosts posted 227, this after they were 198/2, but then lost their last eight wickets for just 29 runs with Paul Frensham (4-33) and Gareth Steed (3-39) doing the damage with the ball.  But despite a decent innings of 56 from skipper Gavin Blowes, the visitors were dismissed for just 131 with the pick of the bowlers being Alex Hatton (3-29) and Tom Baker (3-41) seeing the home side to a 96 run win.
